Sayville Fire Department Blood Drive Keeps
Member’s Memory Alive
Sayville Fire Department will be hosting a
blood drive on Thursday, September 11th from 3:30-9:00 p.m. in memory of
Honorary Captain Wilbur Ritter, who perished in the line of duty after
responding to an alarm on Main Street on August 28, 2006. He was the
Chairman of Sayville’s Blood Drive for about 20 years. Wilbur himself
donated 16 gallons of blood during his lifetime. He was so passionate about
blood donation that as the ambulance doors were closing, his last words to
his fellow firefighters were “make sure you get the blood drive signs up.”
The OWW/First Battalion Chiefs Golf Outing
The OWW/First Battalion
Chiefs Golf Outing will be held on September 29, 2008, at Glen Cove Golf
Course. There will be a 1:00 p.m. shotgun start, with dinner to follow. The

The First Annual Chuck J. Varese Golf Outing, benefiting the St. Baldrick’s
Foundation, will be held on Wednesday, September 24, 2008, at the Swan Lake
Golf Course in Manorville. The donation of $130 per golfer covers the cost
of a continental breakfast, BBQ, salads, beer, soda, water. Registration is
at 7:00 a.m., tee-off at 8:00 a.m. There will be a raffle, prizes, and a
50/50. Foursomes must be paid in full by August 1. For further information

Psychic
Night
The North Lindenhurst Volunteer Fire Department Rescue Company is hosting
its third "Psychic Night", on September 19, 2008, at the Fire Headquarters,
1630 Straight Path, North Lindenhurst. The night will feature Ann Cervone, a
renowned, trance medium, clairvoyant, clairaudient, and clairsentient. The
night will begin with a meatball and spaghetti dinner from 6:00 to 7:00
p.m., prepared by Chef Schafer; refreshments included. Ann will begin at
7:00 p.m. until at least 9:00 p.m. There will be coffee and cake at the
break. Tickets will be $35.00 per person. Checks can be sent to the Fire
Headquarters Attention Rescue Company. Tickets will be mailed back or held

Car, Truck, and Motorcycle Show
Ladder Co. #4 of the
Deer Park FD is hosting a Car, Truck, and Motorcycle show on Sunday,
September 14, 2008, from 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. with a rain date of September
28. A $20 car donation and $15 bike donation is required to show your ride,
and trophies will be awarded to all classes of entries. Food and beverages
will be available for purchase at the show. There will also be giveaways,
raffles, and a 50/50. All are welcome.
A Night
at Martha Clara Vineyards
The Suffolk County Volunteer Firefighters Burn Center Fund will present A
Night at Martha Clara Vineyards at 6025 Sound Avenue, Jamesport, just east
of Herricks Lane, on Saturday, October 4, from 6:30 p.m. until 11:00 p.m.
Tickets are $35.00 per person. The event will include hors d’oeuvres, a
light buffet supper, a cash wine bar, music, and raffles. For tickets,

SMITHTOWN FIRE DEPARTMENT TO HONOR ITS
100TH ANNIVERSARY.
The Smithtown Fire
Department will hold a community-wide celebration commemorating 100 years of
dedicated service on Saturday, September 6, 2008. The celebration will begin
with a major parade down Main Street beginning at 5:00 p.m. Over 35 Fire
Departments will march with firefighters traveling from as far away as
central Pennsylvania to join in the festivities. The parade will begin at
Route 111 and Main Street and continue to Town Hall. After the parade the
New York Avenue School on Main Street and New York Avenue will be turned
into a virtual “fairgrounds” for family entertainment. The school property
will house free rides, a concert by the popular band Big Shot, and free
hamburgers, hotdogs and soda. The celebration will culminate with a
spectacular aerial display of fireworks sponsored by the Bank of Smithtown
and preformed by Bay Fireworks. The fireworks will begin at approximately
9:15 p.m.
