West Hempstead Car Fire

West Hempstead firefighters were called to
the scene of this car fire on Poplar Street on the evening of Jan.10,
2005..The worried owner of the Porsche was extremely grateful for their
quick response. Chief LaCombe was in command of the scene.

C.I. MVA
The Central Islip F.D. was summoned to the scene of a
motor vehicle accident - overturn in front of #425 Clayton Street on Friday,
December 17, 2004. The driver of the vehicle had been removed prior to the
arrival of CI units. Engine & Hose Co. #4 Captain Dan Ehrhardt commanded
operations, and released all personnel from duty within 15 minutes.

Selden MVA

On December 4, 2004, the Selden Fire Department was
activated for an MVA heavy rescue at Old Town Rd. and Hawkins Ave. The car
pictured was traveling east on Hawkins and was broadsided by a white van
traveling south on Old Town Rd. It is reported that the van passed through a
red light due to sun glare. The occupant of the black Buick was transported
to Stony Brook University with an EMT-P and an EMT-CC. Chief of Dept Rich
Napolitano was in Command with First Asst. Chief Bill Xikis and Second Asst
Chief John Bartnik as operations chiefs. Firefighters from Rescue 14 and 13
used Hurst extractors and the transformer tool to affect the extrication,
which took 14 minutes from call received time.

Shirley MVA

This MVA happened on Wednesday, January 12, 2005 at 5:00 p.m. on
the LIE one mile east of the William Floyd Parkway, Exit 68, Apparently the
2000 Ford van was driven by a 43-year-old man of 22-43 127th Street, College
Point, going westbound on the LIE. He lost control of the van, hit another
car, a 2000 Hyundai driven by a resident of Patchogue. After hitting the
Hyundai, the van flew across the grass median into on coming traffic going
east bound and slammed into a 70-year-old woman from Aquebogue. She died in
her car at the scene. The driver of the van went to Brookhaven Hospital with
minor injuries. All three vehicles were impounded. No charges have been
filed.

Amityville Three-Car MVA

On January 11, 2005, the Amityville Fire Department went
to work on this three- car MVA at the corner of Rt. 110 and Dixon Ave.
Despite the heavy damage, all occupant were removed quickly. One aided was
transported to Good Samaritan Hospital and the other across the street to
Brunswick Hospital.Chief Juiliano was in charge of the scene, and all units
were up in about an hour.

Central Islip Pin

On Friday, December 10, 2004,
at approximately 9:30 a.m. the Central Islip Fire Department
responded to a two- vehicle collision with entrapment on Suffolk
Avenue next to the LIRR Platform. Under direction from Chief of
Department Chuck Doyle, Heavy Rescue opened up for the extrication
of a female in one vehicle. CIHVA transported all patients to the
hospital.

Hicksville M.V.A.

Shortly after 9:00 p.m. on January 2, 2005, on
Broadway, Route 107, south of Old Country Road, a vehicle entering
into the southbound lanes lost control and hit a telephone pole,
cutting it off at the base, and slid into the entrance of a medical
building. The car then caught fire. The Hicksville Fire Department
responded within minutes and extinguished the fire.

Medford MVA

On December 29, 2004, the Medford Fired Department
responded to an accident on North Ocean Avenue and Cedar Street..
The injured parties were taken to Brookhaven Hospital.
